HOUSTON (August 13, 2009)—Houston-area nurse Abigail Elizabeth Young of Spring, who along with her boyfriend is charged in the sexual abuse and death of her 4-year-old daughter Emma Thompson, was free on bond Thursday.

The Harris County Sheriff's Department said both were arrested Monday in the June 27 death of the 4-year-old, who suffered blunt force trauma, consistent with homicide, according to the results of an autopsy.

Investigator A.J. Kelly said the child also had a sexually transmitted disease.

Young, 33, is a nurse and was arrested at work in Brenham.

Coe, 27, was caught trying to flee a relative's home in Magnolia.

While free on bond, Young is not allowed to see any of her other children and may communicate with them only through letters.

Well supposedly there was evidence on the computer on how to dispose of a body and get away with it. The police assume because of the date and time this was searched, little Emma was already dead 2 plus hours when mom decided to drive down the street and then call 911. It also gave him plenty of time to find someone to watch his kids (whom he should have never had, per CPS) and take off. This whole thing makes me sick!!!!!

I don't live in Texas, but I am sickened by the fact that both this "mother" and her disgusting boyfriend are both out on bail; I'm also appalled by the charges filed: Felony Injury to a Child??? This is ridiculous. This little angel was murdered, and the judge who ruled on letting them out on bail should be removed from the bench for such a terrible decision. He cannot have CONTACT with any children while on bail? As if he'll pay any attention that that order! I wish all you Texans would make some noise for little Emma. This is such a miscarriage of justice for this beautiful little girl.

What you don't know is this mother is an RN nurse, actually working in a hospital. Her child had a fractured skull and she tried to super glue it back together, rather than take her in for care! Not only is she a danger to her children, she is a danger to society. I won't go to a hospital now. But no worries...Texas has more people on death row and executes more people than any other state in the Union. You say hang 'em high, and we do! They may be out on bond, but that allows them to mount a defense (as if there was one for this) and prevents irreversible error and freedom later. The fact is the boyfriend was on probation for assault and child abuse and no less than 3 Judges in two counties, countless district attorneys, police, and welfare officials knew about this and let it happen. How badly the system and society let down this child is appauling. More than these two should get 'hung high'! We all have ot be accountable when this happens, for our actions and inactions.
