NEW HAVEN, Conn. (August 21, 2009)--A member of the 1990s R&B group Hi-Five was among those wounded in a series of shootings in New Haven, Conn., last weekend.

Police said Treston Irby was hit five times outside a nightclub early Sunday.

He is in stable condition at a hospital.

Authorities say Irby appears to have been an innocent bystander, and not the specific target of the gunplay.

Hi-Five was formed in Waco.

The group’s debut album in 1990 went multi-platinum with hits including "I Like the Way
(The Kissing Game)."

Irby joined the band for its second album in 1992.

Two years ago, in June 2007, Tony Thompson, 31, another Hi-Five member who had recently returned to his native Waco, died after huffing a lethal amount of Freon, autopsy results showed.

Security officers found Thompson's body on June 1, 2007 behind a building at Trendwood Apartments at 1700 Dallas Circle in Waco.
