BELL COUNTY (August 24, 2009)—Bell County investigators have identified the two men who were found shot to death in Bell and Coryell Counties in what authorities say was a double homicide as Jose Angel Cuellar, 32, of Harker Heights and Jose Mario Rodriguez, 28, of Harker Heights.
Bell County authorities found Cuellar’s body Friday at 1074 FM 3219 in Harker Heights.
He had been shot repeatedly.
A passerby discovered Rodriguez’s body early Friday morning alongside County Road 272 near Osage in Coryell County.
Coryell County deputies said he had been shot at least once in the head and suffered severe trauma to parts of his body.
Autopsies were ordered.
The Bell County sheriff’s office is leading the investigation, supported by Coryell County deputies and the Texas Rangers.
Investigators have verified the two victims were acquainted and were seen together Thursday night.
Authorities think Cuellar was killed where he was found, but it’s not clear whether Rodriguez was killed alongside the Coryell County road or whether he was killed somewhere else.
