Low Water Level Forces Corp To Close Ramp At Central Texas Lake
Low water levels have forced the Corps of Engineers to close a popular boat ramp at a Central Texas lake.

FORT WORTH (August 27, 2009)—The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has closed the public boat ramp at Jim Hogg Park at Lake Georgetown because of extremely low water levels resulting from the drought that continues to grip parts of the state.
The lake, which is in Williamson County, is 23 feet below its conservation lake level and the depth of water at the ramp is insufficient for launching and retrieving most boats, the Corps said.
If water levels continue to decline, ramps at Cedar Breaks Park and Russell Park may also be closed, the Corps said Thursday.
The dam creating the lake, which is part of the Brazos River System, was completed in 1979.
