LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (August 27, 2009)--A Texas woman faces a criminal charge in Arkansas after police say she purposely disconnected the feeding tube providing nourishment to her hospitalized 1-year-old son.
Tonya Robinson, 27, of Wake Village was held without bond Thursday at the Pulaski County jail.
Little Rock police said officials at Arkansas Children's Hospital became suspicious of Robinson after her son Dakota gained weight in their care, but suddenly began to lose weight again.
Police said Robinson disconnected her son's feeding tube from his abdomen and hid his formula inside his diaper.
Robinson faces a count of endangering the welfare of a minor.

i can not believe what texas said. i understand trying to look at another angle but wow. i had a son that had a feeding tube for almost four years and it was definately not because he was a vegetable. yes he did have a few healh problems and was sick from time to time but i assure you you can not tell that now. i can not believe the mother would do that to the child, yes it is difficult to do at times to hook them up to the machine at night and stay awake all night to make sure the tubes don't get wrapped around the childs neck when sleeping but it helps. i hope the child is doing well.
Perhaps this child had NO quality of life, a vegetable if you will and was forcibly kept alive by this feeding tube. Who were they keeping him alive for if he would never live a life other than pain and suffering? Maybe this mother was offering a compasionate end to his misery. Not saying its right, just looking at it from another angle.
Two words - Munchausen's syndrome. This is where the parent actually makes a child sick and/or sicker so he/she can get attention to themselves. Sick, just sick.
