GRANBURY (August 29, 2009)—Four of the Republicans who hope to challenge Rep. Chet Edwards, D-Waco, in 2010, are scheduled to speak Saturday at a Tea Party sponsored health care town hall meeting in Granbury.
The meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Shanley Park in Granbury.
GOP congressional candidates Rob Curnock of Waco, Chuck Wilson of Waco, Darren Yancy of Burleson, and Timothy Delasandro of College Station are scheduled to speak, along with U.S. Senate candidates Michael Williams and Roger Williams are also scheduled to speak.
"This is not just to protest Obamacare," said Granbury Tea Party organizer Josh Sullivan.
"We encourage folks to bring a lawn chair and come hear and learn about HR 3200. They will hear real solutions to our health care problems.”
“They will be able to send a message to our congressman that we have a voice and deserve to be heard.
“Since he refuses to hold a town hall meeting in Granbury, we have organized our own. The people will no longer sit by idly as Washington attempts to steal away our freedom and money,” he said.
Edwards holds the second of three face-to-face town hall meetings beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Waco Convention Center in Waco.
On Friday, he’ll hold the third, which is in the Cleburne High School auditorium.
The first was Wednesday in Bryan.
He also held a district-wide telephone town hall meeting to which about 20,000 residents dialed in.
