(August 30, 2009) - An accident Sunday night may have been the result of street racing.

The driver of a Chevy truck was headed westbound on Wedel Cemetery road south of Temple at about 8 p.m. when the truck veered off the road and hit a tree.

Two men in the truck were taken by helicopter to Scott & White Hospital.

Their conditions are unknown.

A witness at the scene claims the truck was racing with another vehicle.

DPS troopers say they found nitrous oxide in the truck involved, but don’t know if it was a factor in the accident.
