WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (September 2, 2009)--Officials at Wake Forest University in North Carolina say about 100 students have been diagnosed and treated for swine flu.
The Baylor University football team travels to Wake Forest for its season opener Saturday.
Wake Forest spokesman Kevin Cox said classes are continuing as usual and students who are not feeling well are being advised to tell their professors that they are sick and to stay home.
Cox says two cases of swine flu were confirmed last Friday.
He said the cases have been relatively mild and the students are feeling better after a few days.
Some students were treated at the university's health service, and Cox said there have been no extraordinary cases.
Doctors say most cases run their course naturally.
Medical care is recommended if body temperature reaches 103 or higher, if there is vomiting, a rash or a change in behavior.
Meanwhile, 55 students are voluntarily quarantined at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga.
Doctors believe the students may have swine flu.
They’re staying in a dorm that was slated for demolition.
About 200 students have suspected cases of swine flu.
Those in quarantine are given single rooms in which to rest and recover.
Food is delivered to the rooms.
