HOUSTON (September 6, 2009)—A state review team is investigating Texas Child Protective Services’ own abuse investigations after the deaths of three Houston-area children.
Katy infant Amber Maccurdy, 3-year-old David Tijerina, of Conroe, and 4-year-old Emma Thompson, of Spring, have died of abuse since April although all three had been reported to CPS as possible child abuse victims.
Emma and Amber died even though both were seen within weeks of their deaths by CPS investigators.
The Austin team will review a random sample of nearly 200 open cases being handled in the Houston CPS district, which includes Harris and 12 surrounding counties.

Do you or someone you know suffer from childhood sexual abuse? Unfortunately I know sexual abuse within and outside of family all too well. That's why when I was told by my son that his father sexually abused him, I took action. Never was I prepared for what my daughter disclosed to me. She told me that her brother, my son, had been sexually abusing her as well, for the past two years. I was determined to keep my children in a safe and healthy environment. I called in TX CPS to help our family in challenges we were going to face. I have evidence of official oppression, civil rights violations etc. This includes the local DA, juvenile probation/CPS supervisors, lawyers, therapists who have made serious errors of judgement numerous times. These errors made by these professionals I can prove. I do not know who the right person would be to handle these kinds of problems. I do believe the scrutiny I have received from these agencies after reporting the sexual abuse is the #1 reason sexual abuse/incest is not reported, you are now a lower part of the human race. Incest/sexual abuse remains taboo. Please help my family.
my daughter has been battling with cps for two years to try to get her kids back. she has done everything they have ask her to do. but they still do not want to give her back her kids.these cases workers have torn my family apart the kids are not even placed together. and no charges has been file against my daughter, and they haven't don't have any proof that the kids was being harmed. we have the kids doctors that are willing to speak for my daughter because she is a good mother.and they wrongfully removed my grandkids and now we are still fighting to get them back. they won't even consider me or any of my family for the placement of my grandchildren they rather have them with people they dont know and we dont know. this is not right they have teaken a four month old baby and a 14 month old and a 7yr old from their home and now they are 2,3,9 she has lost time with them that she cant get back. something needs to be done about this kind of treatment. they made it personal against her.
My ex had cps called and He went to jail for abuse on his girlfriend and I went and took my kids from him. Cps ruled out on his case even though he went to jail for abuse. Now I might have to give my kids back to him because he has sole custody and I don't. It's not fair that he only had them for 10 month and all that happened and I have had them for 2 years and I might have to give them back. Cps needs to learn how to look at every case careful before they let kids live with people like my ex.
