GATESVILLE (September 9, 2009)—One man was taken to Coryell Memorial Hospital just after 6:15 p.m. Wednesday after he crashed his truck through the front wall of a vacant Gatesville building.
The Nine-Ball Café is a Gatesville landmark, having occupied the northwest corner of Lutterloh Ave. and Waco St. for decades.
Wednesday evening a driver who was traveling northbound on Lutterloh, somehow lost control of his truck, crossed the center stripe in the road and crashed through a large plate glass window in the front of the building.
Emergency Medical Technicians from CMHS EMS stabilized the as yet unidentified driver in a cervical collar and took him to CMH for evaluation and treatment.
It is believed he was alone in the truck at the time of the crash.
Police and Gatesville firefighters were at the scene as late as 6:30 trying to figure out how to get the truck free.
