WINNSBORO (September 14, 2009)--A 2-year-old boy died after he slipped from the grasp of an adult relative during a ride on a tractor and was run over Sunday on a farm in East Texas.

The accident happened at about 6:40 p.m. Sunday on a farm near Farm Road 312, just south of Winnsboro.

The child was riding with the adult relative when the tractor hit a large bump and the driver dropped the child, who fell beneath the wheels, according to a statement issued by the Wood
County Sheriff's Department

The statement identified the child as Cameron Pruett.

He was taken to Winnsboro Presbyterian Hospital, where he died.

Every time something tragic like this happens somebody has to make a case about letting kids ride or or being involved with anything that might get them hurt. NEWSFLASH... ACCCIDENTS HAPPEN EVERYWHERE. Kids were tougher and more responsible when I was younger because we worked on the farm and respected the tools, machinery and farmlife in general. Some of my earliest memories were on my grandads tractor learning about soil, cows and weather. If you put your kid on your shoulders or let them swim in the ocean things can happen. Try to prevent them with good sense and pray for the Lord to help out. Don't try to stop every single thing that MIGHT be dangerous. We are weak, unimaginative and couch potatoes because we are always afraid of getting hurt or taking a chance. A lot COULD have happen to us a children, but it didn't for the most part and we may have broken some skin, bones and rules but we learned a lot more about ourselves than kids today do by being "protected" from everything.
