To Waco 9/14: The man walking in the crosswalk in front of Wal-Mart should have been watching where he was going also?? Drivers in parking lots esp. while approaching a designated crosswalk should slow down, pay attention and stop. I've almost been hit twice in the same parking lot in the past year. Both times while in the middle of a pedestrian crosswalk from store to parking lot. The 2nd time I had to start running to get across before the SUV hit me. The lady saw that & stopped to say I'm sorry. I was scared to death seeing the SUV bearing down on me. (I'm in my 50's, was carrying bags of groceries in both hands & had high heels on since I went to shop after work.) I agree that people often dart out from cars expecting you to stop on a dime sometimes though.

Right of way or not, it seems like when humans become pedestrians they think they're invincible or something and become idiots ... myself included, I've been known not to pay attention but I think we all have. A human body vs. a 3000 car is not going to be a good outcome. Get off the $%!% phone and drive!

a lot of people drive too fast in all parking lots. they seem afraid they may miss a parking spot and have to walk a few more feet. to hit someone in a parking lot while talking on a cell is inexcusable and charges should be filed for reckless endangerment
