DALLAS (September 15, 2009)--A former Central Texas police officer was jailed Tuesday in Dallas, facing several charges including engaging in organized criminal activity.
Michael Meissner resigned from his post as an officer in Little River Academy on Aug. 20 after several complaints were filed against him.
On Monday, Meissner was arrested in Arlington as part of an investigation in Combine, southeast of Dallas.
KTVT in Dallas reports Combine investigators are accusing Meissner of paying a blogger to launch cyber-attacks against some of the city's officers using information from a restricted law enforcement computer network.
Search warrants in the case led to several cell phone and e-mail messages that connected Meissner to more alleged crimes.
A detective of the Combine Police Department told KTVT, "These were very sexually graphic messages, including information regarding a pornography operation that he was engaging in as well as the aggravated promotion of prostitution."
Meissner was in the Dallas County Jail Tuesday in lieu of bonds totaling more than $1,500,000 on charges including engaging in organized criminal activity, misuse of official information, obstruction of retaliation. More charges are pending.
Meissner has worked for 18 different police departments since 1989, according to Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education records.
