TIVOLI (September 16, 2009)--An elderly man from Tivoli northeast of Corpus Christi has died after a swarm of bees attacked him as he mowed the lawn of an abandoned house near his home.

Refugio County Justice of the Peace Lorraine Lopez identified the victim of the attack Tuesday afternoon as Amador Villarreal, 81.

Lopez said Villarreal died after bees stung him on his head and upper body.

Refugio County Sheriff Robert Bolcik said a crew would be dispatched to kill the bees, which authorities think are so-called Africanized bees.

I'm very sorry for this man's death, but according to other sources; Our honey bees have crossed with the African bees, and this cross species is the only one that is able to fight off an infection that has just about destroyed all of our honey bees. Bees pollinate 90 percent of the food that is consumed by human beings(vegetables and fruits and Farmers crops).
