Three Arrested In Federal Terrorism Investigation

DENVER (September 20, 2009)--A Colorado airport shuttle driver and his father have been arrested on federal charges of making false statements to federal agents in an ongoing terrorism investigation.
The Justice Department said a third man was also arrested in New York City on the same charges.
The Department says Najibullah Zazi, 24, and his father, Mohammed Wali Zazi, 53, were arrested by federal agents late Saturday at their homes in suburban Denver.
Ahmad Wais Afzali, 37, of Flushing, N.Y was also arrested.
Each was charged with knowingly and willfully making false statements to the FBI "in a matter involving international and domestic terrorism."
A Justice Department statement says the Zazis were scheduled to appear in federal court in Denver on Monday.
Afzali will appear Monday in federal court in the Eastern District of New York.
