TEMPLE (September 21, 2009)-The American Red Cross is assisting four men who were displaced by an early-morning fire Monday.
Two of the four men were Marine veterans of Iraq.
All four men were in their mid-twenties and lived in the residence in the 4600 block of Calle Olmo near Paseo del Oro Street.
The first Temple Fire and Rescue units arrived on the scene just before 4:30 a.m. Monday and reported visible flames around the front entrance of the house.
Firefighters established a perimeter and quickly knocked down the flames.
The house however was rendered uninhabitable.
Temple Fire and Rescue spokesman Thomas Pechal tells News 10 the house sustained moderate smoke and fire damage.
The house had a working smoke detector and all occupants of the home escaped without injury, Pechal said.
One of the displaced residents told News 10 the structure had been red-tagged.
Fire officials on the scene declined to comment on the nature of the fire but could be seen intently investigating the area around the front door.
The house and yard were cordoned off with crime scene tape.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

One of those Iraq Veterans is my brother. He served in Iraq and Afganistan with the Marines. He is a great guy who loves his country.
The house was red tagged AFTER the fire due to structural damage. There were no code violations prior to the incident.
red tag meens there was something of an unsafe nature wrong with the structure or the mechanical part of the house. It could also be some code violations I think
