AMARILLO (September 22, 2009)--A registered nurse in Texas must report to prison by Oct. 13 to begin serving 18 months for Medicaid theft.

Federal prosecutors announced the sentence for Carol Lynn Glover on Tuesday.

She pleaded guilty in May to theft in connection with health care.

U.S. District Judge Mary Lou Robinson in Amarillo on Monday ordered the prison sentence for Glover and decided the nurse must also repay $135,000.

Prosecutors say Glover worked for Nurses By Prescription Inc., a skilled nursing service in Amarillo, and submitted false time sheets in 2005 and 2006.

NBP in turn submitted claims to Medicaid based on the time sheets for services that were never performed.

NBP then paid Glover nearly $100,000 in wages for services that prosecutors say were never rendered.

NBP has reimbursed Medicaid.

I agree sending the nurse to prison, but I have real reservations that her company never had inkling that her time sheets were falsified.
