TYLER (September 23, 2009)—The principal of John Tyler High School in Tyler, where a male teacher was stabbed to death Wednesday morning, is a former Waco and Copperas Cove ISD administrator.

Dr. Carol Saxenian was principal of Lake Air Middle School and later of Copperas Cove High School.

The Tyler ISD hired her this spring and she left Copperas Cove at the end of the school year.

She worked in the Waco ISD for more than 15 years before taking a job in the Eanes ISD near Austin and then accepting the principal’s post in Copperas Cove.

Saxenian’s sister Lisa is an assistant principal at Waco High School.

She told News 10 Wednesday afternoon she was en route to Tyler, but said she had not talked to her sister.

A relative identified the slain teacher as Todd R. Henry, 50.

He was a music therapist who worked with special needs students.

Jody Henry told The Associated Press that his brother was an "accomplished and respected guitarist."

A 16-year-old student was in custody after Wednesday morning's attack.

District Superintendent Randy Reid said the student approached his teacher about 8:50 a.m. Wednesday and stabbed him in the neck with a sharp object.

A teacher's aide and two other students were in the classroom, and the aide subdued the suspect before calling district police.

Reid said the student had been in and out of the district "a couple of times," but declined to provide further details, citing privacy laws.

The high school was locked down after the stabbing and students were eventually sent home for the day.

Reid said classes would resume Thursday.

Nobody is concerned about Carol. She was a terrible assistant principal and principal. She will not be at John Tyler very long, because she easily makes enemies. Teachers under her in Waco transferred as quickly as they could. This should be about the teacher that was killed insteaqd of her.

You people want to blame this on the removal of God from schools? LOL! Put the blame where it really belongs _ Blame the Baby Boomers. They are the ones who took away our parental rights telling us how to discipline our own children. They are the ones who made it illegal to whoop our kid's butts when they deserved it. They made the screwed up laws that we have now that darn near restrict every bit of parental control over our children, Blame them - they really deserve it. As for Saxenian, I don't know of a single person that misses her - most were ecstatic when she left. Shouldn't this article have been about the teacher who was killed instead of an Administrator who changes jobs a lot?

I'm with some of these other postings. What does the Principal have to do with this?
