SAN ANTONIO (September 24, 2009)--San Antonio police arrested the 18-year-old father of an infant girl hours after the baby’s bruised body was found outside a fire station.
San Antonio Fire Chief Charles Hood said the body was discovered during a shift change.
Ramiro De La Rosa was jailed Thursday on a charge of injury to a child-serious bodily injury.
A jailer at the Bexar County Adult Detention Center, who declined to give her name, said the teenager’s bond was set at $100,000.
The body of the 2-month-old girl was discovered around 7 a.m. Wednesday wrapped in a pink blanket in a car seat.
Hood said it was not immediately clear if she was alive when she was left.
Autopsy results are pending.

It breaks my heart to see these things keep happening to poor defenseless babies. My husband have been trying to conceive for over a year and a half now and have been through numerous treatments and its just not happening. Why dont people understand you can take a baby to any place labeled as a safe place drop off and hand your baby to someone and turn around and walk away no questions ask and give the baby a chance. God Bless this sweet baby girl.
Oh my goodness!! WHY?! I'm pregnant with my third child (unplanned) and I'm young. But I would NEVER EVER think of doing this! That poor child could have been given to a family that isn't blessed with the ability to have babies! I feel GUILTY that I'm pregnant with an unplanned baby even though we fully intend to take care of it and love it, I feel bad for couples who can't have kids. This baby could have been loved. People need to take responsibility for their actions! God PLEASE I pray that you bestow the love for our neighbors in everyone's heart that reads this! Lend us your love so that we may lend it to others. Amen.
omg! she could've taken the baby inside the firestation and left it with a fireman no questions asked. if they are under a certain age they can be given up as long as they are handed to someone not left outside the door. would it have killed the mom to walk a few more feet? she might've had to answer to the bruises but i would rather that then abandonment resulting in death.
