CLIFTON (September 29, 2009)—One of the five people charged with capital murder in the shooting death of a Clifton man whose was found late last Wednesday night in a popular town park told police investigators the plan was to lure the victim to a popular Clifton town park and rob him.
A 16-year-old girl, a 14-year old boy, Angelica Nieto, 23, Jennifer Dunn, 22 and Pedro Ramirez III, 22, are charged in the shooting death of Arturo Chavez, 57.
All five were arrested early the next day after Dunn waived her right to an attorney and told investigators what had happened, according to an arrest warrant affidavit released Tuesday.
Officers found the victim’s body at around 10 p.m. last Wednesday after responding to a report of an intoxicated man.
They found Chavez lying next to a vehicle in the parking lot of Dahl Park.
He had been shot once under the right jaw, the affidavit said.
Officers identified him by his driver’s license, which they found in his left rear trouser pocket, the affidavit said.
Dunn told investigators that she and four others planned to rob Chavez, the affidavit said.
She told investigators “she agreed to meet Chavez at Dahl Park where another party would confront them victim and commit the offense of robbery.”
Separate hearings for the two juveniles were held Monday in Bosque County District Court and both were ordered returned to detention in a juvenile facility.
Attorneys have been appointed for both of the teenagers, both of whom could be certified for trial as adults.
If they were certified, however, they would not be eligible for the death penalty because of their age.
In a case in which juveniles are charged with serious offenses, state law requires detention hearings every 10- to 15-days.
Both youths are being held at an undisclosed juvenile detention facility in north-central Texas.
Sources have confirmed the two teenagers are Clifton High School students.
Meanwhile, the three adults charged in the killing have requested court-appointed lawyers, but attorneys have not been named.
Their bonds are set at $750,000 each.

I still say, if they are old enough to do the Crime, then let them spend the time(death Row for a few years, then Lethal-Injection)!!! PERIOD!!!
Looks like Jennifer is grasping at straws for a lighter sentence.. rolling on the others. I personally don't think those who roll at trial time should get any less punishment then those who didn't... she was still at the scene of the crime and was a willing participant in the scheme.. serve your time like all the others!
I am so sick of reading and hearing about people hurting each other, have we all become animals and its about how bad can we hurt someone else best??? like the boy who was locked in the closet for 4 years and was beaten, starved and abused, have we really not learned by now that to survive we have to be for each other, to have each others back, to look out for one another and step up closer to the plate for those who aren't strong enough to care for themselves...why don't we send murderes and thieves to the war where they enjoy killing people so our people can come home to their families??? Oh thats right that would be taking about their rights...Yea like I care about that...
