WASHINGTON (October 02, 2009)-The House-approved 2010 Energy and Water Appropriations bill provides funding for a new program that would help reduce pollution in the North Bosque Watershed and Lake Waco.

The bill passed 308 to 114 in the House Thursday

The program was awarded $100,000 in funding to partner the Corps of Engineers, USDA, and Natural Resources Conservation Services with private landowners.

The funds would be used to construct earthen terracing, lagoons, wetlands, and runoff mitigation systems throughout the Bosque River Watershed to improve the water quality of downstream Lake Waco.

This project is one of only 20 new programs nationwide receiving funding under the bill.

Rep. Chet Edwards serves as vice chair of the Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee, and is a member of the House-Senate conference committee that wrote the final bill.

Lake Waco serves as the primary source of drinking water for the City of Waco and is also a key recreational area for McLennan County residents.

The final 2010 Energy and Water bill is expected to pass the Senate, and be sent to the president for his signature.

Chet, What are you going to do with this whopping $100.000.00? Hire one idiot, buy one pick-up and let them sleep under a shade tree. Pollution solved.
