FORT WORTH (October 2, 2009)—Sentencing is scheduled for December for a Fort Worth man convicted in the 2007 starving of his infant son that left the 7-month-old baby weighing just 6 pounds.
On Thursday, a Tarrant County jury convicted Michael Anthony Foster, 38, of causing serious bodily injury to a child by failing to feed him and provide medical care.
The penalty range is probation to life in prison.
The boy's mother, Melisa Marez, is also charged with injuring the baby, named Euphrates.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that Merez, who in 2008 was ruled incompetent for trial, is expected in court Monday.
A neighbor in 2007 called 911 to report the malnourished child.
The boy, who was placed with Child Protective Services, has recovered and has been adopted.

I totally agree with T and shotz. Starve them! Let them see and feel what their helpless 7 month old was going through! How could you not feed your own child! That poor little boy! But at least he's away from them and he's going to have a better life! I hope his biological parents realize how worthless they are!
I was in the court room and saw the photos and video. It was horrible and the father showed no emotion at all. He never asked how his baby was during the ordeal. He claimed he fed the baby 6-8 oz. every 2 hours. When shown the photos of the baby, he said: "He didn't look like that when I left for work." The good news is that the little boy is healthy and adorable now and you could tell that his adoptive Mom and Grandma love him dearly.
Nothing suprises me anymore....
