PHOENIX (October 3, 2009)--The number of immigrants who died while sneaking across America's southern border is expected to surpass number who died in 2008, although fewer people are getting caught entering the country illegally.
The Border Patrol says 378 people perished near the border during the 11-month period that ended Aug. 31.
The toll is likely to rise as the government finishes its tally for the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30.
There were 390 deaths in the 2008 fiscal year.
More than half the deaths in the fiscal year that just ended were reported in Arizona. Texas ranked second, followed by California and New Mexico.
The leading cause of death was exposure to the heat.
Other causes included rollovers of smuggling vehicles, and drowning in rivers and drainage canals.

Wow.. i would love to think that you all are still in high school right???
To El Dorado, yes my great grand mother was full blooded seminole indian, so you can investigate my ancestors if you want, I could careless if they die tring to get here, and I think if they come here illegally, they should be put on a bus and sent home the first time, the second time they they come here illegally, they should be taken to some other county, that being said, if they want to come here, let them do it legally.
Unless you are native American perhaps you should be investigated as to whether your ancestors came into this country totally legal. These are human beings that have died. They were not so fortunate as you to have been born in the U.S. Having no way to make money to feed themselves and their family, no future, they are desparate enough to risk their lives in hope of anything better. If they made it here, they would be working for their family instead of sitting on their rump posting blogs on a computer.
