WACO (October 12, 2009)--Sources within the Baylor football program have told News 10 that quarterback Robert Griffin will have season-ending knee surgery Tuesday morning on his right knee.

The surgery will repair an "an isolated tear" in the ACL. He sustained the injury in the first half of Baylor's game with Northwestern State last month.

He returned to action in that game after the injury, and threw three touchdown passes as the Bears led 41-10 at halftime.

In three games this season, the sophomore signal caller has thrown for 481 yards and four touchdowns.

Griffin was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year in 2008 after throwing for 2,091 yards and rushing for 843.

The Copperas Cove native accounted for 28 touchdowns during his rookie season.
