KILLEEN (October 15, 2009)—Maintenance workers doused a fire that started Thursday afternoon on the balcony of an upstairs apartment in Killeen before the flames could spread.
The fire broke out just after 2 p.m. Thursday at the Hoodview Apartments on Wales Drive in Killeen.
Residents spotted black smoke coming from the balcony and called 911, but before firefighters arrived, the maintenance workers got inside the apartment and extinguished the flames of what turned out to be a trash fire.
Damage was limited to the outside of the apartment unit.
No one was hurt.
