WACO (October 16, 2009)--Rescuers had to use the Jaws of Life to cut a driver from a vehicle after a two-car crash around noon Friday in Waco.
Firefighters had to cut through doorposts to pry back a portion of the vehicles roof so they could remove the injured driver from the car.
Rescuers and police were dispatched to the intersection of 17th St. and Austin Ave. just after noon Friday.
The names of the drivers have not been released, but both were taken to a local hospital by East Texas Medical Center ambulance.
Police had to restrict traffic on both streets for some time while crews removed debris from the roadway.
Normal traffic flow was restored about 1 p.m.

Agree with you Lisa: Waco. these young reporters still have 'no' idea how to get the six basic questions answered(who, what, when, where, how, why). And they do not know how to read/write/spell/talk. And remember people most all of the new cars are made to absorb(collaps) on the impact of a collision, so most have to be cut out!! Thanks Waco fire Department!!
What on earth has happened to news coverage? I check this site, as well as the other "local" news sites every day. What's posted here is nothing. Someone was obviously on the scene to take the pictures, but the story posted states pretty much absolutely nothing. Please bring back REAL news coverage to the area. What does it cost for a journalism degree these days? Apparently it's an easy degree to get. I'd never post my name to such a pitiful report.
One of these drivers must have tried to beat a light. These personal injury lawyers in Waco should be making a killing for their firms.
