WACO (October 21, 2009)—Fired Waco EOAC Charter School director Robert Glinski reached a severance pay agreement Wednesday with the Economic Opportunities Advancement Corporation, or EOAC.

The deal, released Wednesday by the EOAC's attorney, pays Glinski eight weeks of wages based on his salary at the time his employment ended.

He is also entitled to around 3 weeks of unpaid leave.

In a statement accompanying the agreement Glinski said, "We have entered into this agreement for the sake of closure. I wish EOAC well."

"It is time for the staff to be able to put this behind them and move on. I believe that would be best for the children and families of Waco Charter School." Glinski said.

Glinski had been director of the Waco Charter School since 2006.

The charter school, which the EOAC sponsors, has about 150 students in kindergarten through fifth grade.

During his tenure, the school's state accountability rating went from unacceptable to recognized.

The EOAC board voted to recommend firing him on Aug. 31 after three teachers filed grievances against him earlier in the summer and he refused on July 31 to accept a contract that included certain terms and conditions with which he did not agree.

In 2001, Glinski was named Region 12 Secondary Teacher of the Year and was a finalist for Texas Secondary Teacher of the Year for his work as a U.S. History and Leadership teacher at Waco's Tennyson Middle School.

Mr. Glinski, Hi! Just found this site. I would love to take this chance to tell you what we were robbed of. We were blessed that we had you there , we miss you tremendously. NO words could, still cant be used to accurately describe the kindess both you and Mrs. Meeks demonstrated to both my girls Kelle and Kristina, and our family as a whole. I'm deeply saddened you are no longer here, and for what its worth, think the displinary actions you recieved was very much unwarranted and one-sided.. Thank you, thank you for your warmth, your graciousness, your consistant availability on meeting with us for any concerns we had.. Every morning we saw you, there wasn't a day, you didnt greet us with enthusiasm, a kind word, a smile, which is harder for some than others to do.. Even though "thank you" seems so small, I DO THANK YOU. I am sorry for what you've endured.. IF you would like to keep in contact.. we'd love to know how you're doing. Joanna.howdeshell@yahoo.com. Miss you!!

Mr. Robert Glinski and the 150 students from the EOAC Charter School on 25th St. are the latest casualties of the small minds and self centered group that call themselves board members for EOAC. I call them(the board members) that because they are completely satisfied to take the word of teachers and staff personal that I'll call "sour grapes" and make a decision that effects so many young people lives. EOAC board members need to be reminded their purpose is to promote and bring higher education to our young people. They should not listen to petty grievances from employees that want to play on their computers during school hours, want the director to talk to them like he does his wife, does not like the tone of voice he uses towards teachers and staff, and would have the audacity to expect them to work the entire eight hours per day that they get paid to perform a service to our young students. Congratulations to Mr. Glinski. Now he can get a real teaching job at a real school.

I have written Johnette Hicks and requested the minutes of the meeting in which Mr. Glinski's termination was discussed, as well as a copy of the teachers and their complaints. She did not send the minutes. She sent complaints from two teachers rewritten by her. The third teacher's complaints were rewritten by Ms. McDaniel, Mrs. Hicks' secretary. She also refuses to return my phone calls, and referred my request to talk with her to the EOAC law firm. This leads me to believe that Mrs. Hicks is the problem with the EOAC school, and to wonder what are her qualifications and level of education in order to be the school superintendant. In the 13th year history of the school they are in the process of hiring the 6th principal. Mr. Glinski was the only one able to bring the school up to the recognized rating. It seems to me Mr. Glinski should be reinstated., and that Mrs. Hicks should be transferred.
