SAN MARCOS (October 23, 2009)—A homeowner in San Marcos shot a would-be intruder three times Thursday night after the 21-year-old man, who was armed with a BB gun, broke into his house.
The man was taken to an Austin hospital.
His name and information about his condition weren’t immediately released.
Earlier this week, a San Marcos College student was shot when two people broke into his home and earlier this year, another homeowner in San Marcos opened fire on four teenagers from Luling who broke into his house, killing two of them.
“It is quiet unusual for the city of San Marcos to have this type of activity going on," said San Marcos Police Commander Penny Dunn.

Although I choose not to have a gun in my home, I think that if you make the choice to break into someone's home, you are accepting the risk of being shot. If you break the law, there are consequences. In this case, he only got shot. He's lucky he wasn't killed. We aren't lucky...he could be back out there doing this to someone else. For that matter, he'll probably sue the homeowner that shot him and win. What is this country coming to?
Maybe these thugs should learn not to mess with Texans. Thank god Texas has reasonable leaders who support our second ammendment rights and to defend ourselves. I'm proud of the homeowners in San Marcos for taking personal responsibility for their safety.
Oops, that was the earlier incident I'd commented on. I agree that this incident is terrible, too, because the homeowner's shot was not lethal.
