SAN ANTONIO (October 27, 2009)--A 27-year-old contract worker dead who fell from a unit at a Texas power plant was pronounced dead early Tuesday morning.
CPS Energy spokesman John Moreno said the accident happened at around 11:45 p.m. Monday.
The man, whose name was not immediately released, fell about 30 feet from the unit on Calaveras Lake.
Moreno said the man was working on the JK Spruce II project, as an employee of Calaveras Power Partners.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration will investigate.
About 1,400 Calaveras Power Partners employees are working on the plant, which is scheduled to be operational in early 2010.

To Gary in Mart; There are many reasons for authorities to temporarily withhold names from the media, two of which would be because there is an ongoing investigation or "pending notification of next of kin." Identifying, locating, and contacting next of kin can take time, and the media correctly refrains from letting next of kin find out about a tragedy through a news report. So the media probably expects the name to be released "eventually" and are simply noting that the name was not "immediately released."
Why does the news media always use "immediately released"? The name (or whatever) was either released or it wasn't, so what's the purpose of "immediately"?
i knew this man and went to school with him. it was a complete shock to hear the news, he was a great guy and had a loving family my prayers are with his family we are all going to miss him....
