Second Arrest Made In Gang Rape Of Teen Outside Homecoming Dance

RICHMOND, Calif. (October 27, 2009)—Police have made a second arrest in the beating and gang-rape of a California teenager who was attacked outside her high school homecoming dance.

A 15-year-old student was booked late Monday on one count of sexual assault.

Police took a 19-year-old into custody at the scene.

He's held on $800,000 bail for investigation of rape and robbery.

But authorities say as many as five more men attacked the girl Friday night outside Richmond High School in California.

They also say as many as a dozen people watched without reporting it.

The 15-year-old girl had evidently left the dance and was walking to meet her father when a classmate invited her to join a group drinking in the courtyard.

Police said the victim had consumed a large amount of alcohol by the time the assault began.

She remains hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
