SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (October 29, 2009)—Prosecutors in California say they will seek the extradition of Randy Quaid and wife Evi from Texas after the couple failed to show up for a felony court hearing.

The Quaids were due in court in Santa Barbara, Calif., on Thursday afternoon to answer to felony charges that they defrauded an innkeeper.

They have been given multiple chances to appear in court, but have yet to show up.

Senior Deputy District Attorney Lee Carter said an arrest warrant remains active and he said the office will also seek the Quaids' extradition from Texas, where they were arrested last month.

Felony charges were filed after a resort complained the couple used an invalid credit card and racked up a bill of more than $10,000.

Randy Quaid's film credits include "Independence Day" and "Kingpin."
