McLENNAN County (October 30, 2009)-A late night fire destroyed the home of one Central Texas man.
Firefighters responded around 10:00 p.m. Thursday to the structure fire on Locker Lane, off of FM 933 in Chalk Bluff.
The man was able to get out safely thanks to the smoke alarm that alerted him but his home completely gutted by the late-night fire.
No one else was inside the two-bedroom home at the time of the fire.
Chalk Bluff fire officials say they believe the fire was caused by coals in the home's heater.
Fire crews from Elm Mott and Lacy Lakeview also responded and provided mutual aid.
