Mom And Cranky Toddler Booted From Southwest Flight
A woman who was booted along with her screaming toddler from a Southwest Airlines flight says she wants an apology.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (October 30, 2009)--A cranky 2-year-old was acting too much his age for a Southwest Airlines flight crew who kicked him off a San Jose-bound flight.

The boy’s mother, Pamela Root, said she was confident her son Adam's screams of "Go! Plane! Go!" and "I want Daddy!" would subside once the plane took off Monday.

Instead, she says the plane returned to the gate in Amarillo, Texas, and she and her son were escorted off.

Root, 38, who’s a stay-at-home mom, wants an apology and compensation for the portable crib and diapers she had to buy for the extra night away from home.

Southwest spokeswoman Marilee McInnis says removing a crying child from a flight is unusual, but said crews have leeway to resolve situations as they see fit.

McInnis says the airline is looking into the incident.

Get over it. This is a child. He may be out of his comfort zone and it can be scarry and it may be irritating to his little ears being 35000 feet in the air. We have all heard of the screaming kid on the plane before and you take that chance when you board a flight. We all have a right to be on that flight. Maybe they should have a flight for uptight, intolerant passengers. I am a mother of 4 children. You know sometimes, they have a mind of their own and no amount of games or activities calm them down.It has nothing to do with dicipline. Your hands are for loving, not spanking. In fact it would be cruel to spank a child because he is scared or cannot adjust to changes in the air. I suggest next time you get on a plane, take some head phones or a sedative.

I was stuck on a flight from Atlanta to Chicago with JASON, THE CHILD FROM HELL. By the time the flight landed everyone on there was more than willing to take the fall for killing his incompetant mother. I feel bad for the woman and her child, but it examples like the one above that make it harder for everyone to fly. Flying in and of itself is a stressful situation, what with security, long lines, being away from home. You do NOt need a simpering uneffective mother allowing her precious 2 year old to run roughshot over the entire flight. Its not like the oter passengers can get up and leave the room. Maybe airlines can have flights just for families with small children. I guarantee you, they wouldnt even want to fly with each other after the maiden trip.

That's sad. I know people can choose what happens in their own business but this world has become more and more non kid friendly and it's sad. As a single mom I feel for this woman.
