DALLAS (October 30, 2009)--A young Muslim doctor who applied for a job at a North Texas medical clinic said clinic officials told her she couldn't wear her traditional headscarf.
Dr. Hena Zaki of Plano said Friday that she was shocked when CareNow officials told her a no-hat policy extended to her hijab.
She says it happened while she was on a tour and interview at a CareNow in Allen earlier this month.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations wrote to CareNow on Zaki’s behalf, pointing out the law requires employers must make reasonable religious accommodations for employees.
Zaki recently finished her residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas.
She said other places where she's worked have not had a problem with the headscarf she wears as part of her religious belief.
CareNow didn't return messages for comment Friday.

Never mind folks. They are going to hire her anyway. Head scarf and all. Another example of giving in to the demands of a minority. I'll bet her ancestors were slaves or something! SHEEP! SHEEP!
Slow down there Shocked. Are you serious? We are prohibited from wearing signs of our religion in the work place....why should she be different. The young man who got fired from Home Depot for a badge that said in God We Trust. Or the officer who was fired for the cross tie tack. There are many other examples. She should have to adhere to the same rules we do.
Dear shocked, America was based on freedom from religion.
