DALLAS (November 3, 2009)--he parents of a 20-year-old Prairie View A&M University transfer student who died last month during an early-morning fraternity pledge run are suing the school and Phi Beta Sigma fraternity, among other defendants.

Dallas lawyer Kevin Kelley filed the lawsuit Friday in state district court in the Oct. 20 death of Donnie Wade Jr.

Calls and e-mails by The Associated Press Tuesday night to university spokeswoman Sheleah Hughes and the fraternity weren't immediately returned.

Hughes said Wade, a junior from Dallas, was with other students at the Hempstead High School track about 9 miles from the university's campus, when he became ill.

The lawsuit alleges his death was due to hazing.

The Harris County medical examiner is handling the autopsy.

Not to protect this frat, but...I haven't read anything about hazing. Many activities and organization have physical conditioning as part of their training routine, so unless they ran them past their abilities, without prior conditioning, breaks and water, I still have to ask, exactly what part of the run was hazing? Next, what did the college, Prarie View have to do with this. From what I read, the college itself was still siting at its present location 9 miles away from where this young man took ill.
