CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (November 4, 2009)--The parents of a Virginia Tech coed who disappeared in Charlottesville, Va. after attending a concert last month asked the community Wednesday to help search for her this weekend.

Morgan Dana Harrington, 20, was last seen on a bridge that crosses railroad tracks after she became separated from her friends at the Metallica concert on Oct. 17.

Her father, Dan Harrington, told a news conference Wednesday the three-day search will be coordinated by the Laura Recovery Center, a Texas-based group that helps to recover missing children.

Searchers will get instructions at a meeting at the Cavalier Inn Thursday night.

Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller said that police have received 350 tips so far, and have followed up on every one.

She said Metallica has added $50,000 to the reward for Morgan Harrington's return, bringing it to $150,000.

The Laura Recovery Center is named in honor of Laura Kate Smither of Friendswood who was abducted near her home in 1997.

Her body was found 17 years later

No one has ever been charged in her murder.

Volunteers from the search for the missing girl continued to respond to calls from other families with missing children and in 1998 the recovery center opened an office.

Laura Smithers went missing in 1997 - her body was found 17 days later - Instead of being critical and rude, anyone with harsh comments could have looked up the information on Laura

I thought journalist went to school for this stuff. Did they forget the class in reporting the facts correctly??? Apparently so...this has been a big issue with journalists lately not getting information or facts printed up in their story correctly. And they want to know why they get sued???? Imagine that!!!

I'm confused. How could Laura Smith be kidnapped in 1997 with her body found 17 years later? In 2014?
