HOUSTON (November 4, 2009)—Services were held Wednesday in Houston for lawyer John O’Quinn, 68, who died last week when the SUV in which he and another person were riding skidded across the median of Allen Parkway and ended up wrapped around a tree.
O'Quinn was at the forefront of such national litigation as the breast implant cases and was one of the lead lawyers in the state of Texas' massive settlement from the tobacco industry.
He also was prosecuted by the State Bar of Texas for how he obtained cases and was found in contempt midtrial for sleeping in a jury room.
Police think weather and speed played a role in the accident that claimed his life.
O’Quinn was a University of Houston Law graduate.
He was divorced and had no children.
