GATESVILLE (November 4, 2009)—After less than two hours deliberation a six-person district court jury returned a not guilty verdict in the trial of a former Copperas Cove paramedic who was charged with misdemeanor official oppression.

Kasey S. Calvery, a former paramedic with the Copperas Cove Fire Department, was arrested in February after he was accused of fondling the breasts of an 18-year-old female patient while pretending to tend to her injuries.

The jury began deliberations just after 10 a.m. Wednesday and returned to the courtroom with the verdict just before noon.

A quirk in state law requires an official oppression charge unlike other misdemeanors to be indicted and tried in district court.

I think this is such a sensitive issue and people that don't know the details of the case should keep their comments discreet. For a woman to make a report like this with nothing to gain but humiliation, takes alot from her. If he is guilty, then he will pay for it in time. Whether WE believe she was victamized, doesn't matter. What matters is that she felt that way. If she lied, then she will pay for it when the time comes. I just ask that people be respectful to both parties.

Twenty years ago, a massage therapist was FINALLY brought to trial in Waco....after numerous complaints, with over 200 who could have been called to witness against him. He was acquitted--6=6--in a travesty of "justice", which is what this appears to be....since the man confessed. No medical technician needs to touch a woman's nipples. No medical technican who touches a woman's nipples needs to be a medical technician. Sexual abusers abuse repeatedly, and I will guarantee you there were others who did not come forward. If he touched this woman inappropriately....and his touch was, by his own admission of guilt, inappropriate....his "career" deserved ruination. I know there are times when accusations are unjust, but this does not appear to be a misrepresentation. You have no comprehension what it required of this woman to make this complaint. Sexual abusers don't abuse "just once". The never stop....for their lifetimes. If it was YOUR daughter, wife, girlfriend? How'd U feel?
