Local Woman Claimed She Had Cancer To Get Money For Breast Implants
A Central Texas woman who claimed she had breast cancer, but took the thousands of dollars raised at a benefit in August and spent it on breast augmentation surgery was arrested Wednesday on a warrant charging theft by deception.

The solution is simple, inject her with cancerous cells until they take hold. Breast cancer would be ideal in this situation, then give her a double mastectomy. Sentence paid in full! [ Report Abuse ]

To all who said this is between her and God are half right, it is also between her and every person that gave her even one penny. My father was one of the "donaters" to this "cause" and in my opinion should get every penny back or pick a breast you can live without because that is what his money went towards and he should at least get what he paid for. Trista you are a sick individual and this is not your first indescrestion and i can say this because I have known you a while as my parents have. I can only say shame on you because I can't use the words I really want to and what I would like to do to you on this message board. I will say you are going to get yours in the end. I hope you are punished to the fullest extent of the law, and no one is responsible for ruining your life and your families but YOU! Aside from being one of the most appalling things I've ever heard, I feel so sorry for the people who do need benefits to help pay for medical treatments. What this woman has done is plant a seed of skepticism in many individuals minds that will make them question should they donate to the next person who needs help. I personally feel that as punishment she should lose her breast implants, but I know that there would be no judge that aggressive to take that stand. God have mercy on her soul should one day she be told, she has cancer. I believe what you do to others comes back on you ten fold... [ Report Abuse ]

Is anyone surprised by the second arrest!!! This kind of behavior just doesn't happen overnight. In my opinion this was something a long time in the making and probably there will more to come in the future. We will wait and see. Prayers to all survivors and families of cancer. You need help! You were wrong by faking breast cancer. Didnt you think this would come out one day? You didnt think about your boys? Your selfish, you probaly wanted to flaunt yourself to other men not your husband. I hope Bill gets you out of his life! Its not just Mclennan area,that are taking advantage of people.Its everyone Some folks here can't aford to pay there hospital bills.Thats why they dont pay them and even though people buy cigaretts or beer.They still pay their bills including Hospital bills.But what that lady had done is wrong she shoudnt fake that she had cancer..Because you just dont play with that.Cancer is SOMTHING you just don't lye about.But poor children they have to live with it noing that there own mother had lyed about having cancer..Because she wanted some breast implants WHAT a shame... I know what she has done is unbelievable....I do feel for the innocent family & friends that did not know what she was doing........ but mostly Bill and the children. Judge her actions, not her entire family. We should be praying for her and her family instead of using harsh and hateful words to put her and her family down. If we would spend as much time on our knees praying for them as we do on the computer crucifying her and her family....wow!!! who knows what might happen. i can not change what you feel, how you think, or what you do. She will pay for any crimes she has committed. But before you all pass judgement, think of the kids and keep it clean. They have done nothing wrong here and dont deserve the negative attention. I'm sure they are going through enough. They dont need your derogatory comments to amplify their feelings. Also, can we leave the husband out of it? He is currently a single father! I personally wouldnt want to take on that task, much less in these conditions. Bill is a good guy that happened to have children with the wrong woman. You can't judge anyone that doesn't question someone on the issue of cancer. That in itself would be outrageous. I have known him for a very long time and he has one of the purest hearts out there. Please don't judge a man for doing what he thinks is right. My cousin is about to have a bone marrow transplant because he has leukemia at 47. Some one might think twice now about donating or helping bc of trash like this girl. I agree leave the family out she is the one who needs to be reminded everyday what she did to people. She implanted doubt in what is left of generous giving people!! Makes me sick. I think she should have to give the entire amount donated to the american cancer society so that these people know their money finally got to a good cause! [ Report Abuse ]

I have a family member that has gone through breast cancer and it is not something anyone should play with. It is not her familys fault at all. That is their child, neice, cousin ,sister ect... If your child came to you about something like this would you believe them or call them a liar? What is the family supposed to do in a situation like this. It is sad that this happened. If you think about the events that happened in Ft. Hood today and then relate that story with a sick human being like this girl, it just goes to show that our world is really messed up. People often use mental health or just plain insanity as an excuse, but to me they are just IGNORANT.. If a person wants their loved ones attention then they should tell them that they love them every day and show them the affection they need. It seems that material things and self acceptance often exceed love. As a man, I can honestly say that I would much rather have my wifes love then a fake pair of breasts. The problem is that this person obviously is use to taking the easy way out and she thought that her husband wanted some suck toys. I think that she was unhappy with herself and uses her husband as an excuse. I feel sorry for this man and his sons. They are now left without a wife and a mother. They are the real victims here.. Alot of people in the mcclennan county area are taking adavantage of people. They are having numberous benefits for the same thing not paying their hospital bills. Buying dope beer cigarettes, hookers or whatever someone needs to get a handle on this cause this. they might not of lied but used the money for other things than there family. None of you people know the family like you think you do OR you wouldn't be bad mouthing the ENTIRE family. They're good people! This is a bad thing that happened. I agree. What Trista did was wrong but some people have gone to the extent of insulting the family. Do you not think they are embarrassed? Tons of us donated money to her cause, including her grandmother who has since passed away. You can get on here and ridicule Trista but leave the family out of it. Some people are so immature and ignorant. We were all decived by her not just the public. The cousins, parents, aunts and uncles of Trista are all innocent but are being riducled on this stupid website by stupid people. If this story upset you multiply that by 100 for the family. My mom died in June 2009 of Cancer. We had a benefit at Hog Creek for her as well. HogCreek was Great! What this woman did was wrong & I pray her family never goes thru what ours did with the suffering of watching a mother die of cancer for 9 mths. But yet part of me is pained deeply 4 my cousin is/has been good friends w/John Epperson & Marty J 4 years,& begged them to play for us, yet they could not find the time to play for my mom who was a REAL CANCER PATIENT. Maybe if they had, we would have raised more than $500 that nite & more chemo would have helped her live another day or month or year. She had no insurance, she had no spouse, just her children & grandchildren doing the best we could. Maybe next time these bands will "FIND OUT WHO YOUR REAL FRIENDS ARE" and help out when called upon for a real charity. I also know a woman who lied about being molested by a family member AND having cancer. This woman had a loving husband and plenty of attention from her parents growing up. Sometimes people are just mentally ill, and noone else causes it. She needs treatment, then needs to pay restitution and do community service. [ Report Abuse ]

I see comments from folks who say that they know her and most of them stated that this is not the first lie she has told. Which leads me to this question: if so many people knew she was so deceptive, why did no one question her about her illness? Why did this not come to light until the surgeon said something? I understand that cancer is a sensitive subject, but folks have become so worried about offending people they refuse to question or speak up; they simply accept what they're told. I think it is shameful that people feel that it's OK to talk bad about a person after they have been caught, but do nothing to help prevent the crime in the first place. If someone is going through cancer treatment there are signs and symptoms, and lack of those should make it obvious that the person is lying or faking. Shaving your head is not enough to convince me that you're undergoing chemical or radioactive treatment- that stuff is horrible and does WAY MORE than just make you lose your hair. [ Report Abuse ]

I am very disgusted and disappointed in the whole situation. I work with breast cancer patients five days a week. 1 in every 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. I have started a Breast Cancer Support Group for women age 45 and under that meets at the American Cancer Society the last monday of every month at 6pm. So to Zack and Jim, I hope that in the future more work is done investigating when hosting a benifit. It's sad that our world has come to this, but we need to insure to people that when hosting a fund-raiser for people "in need" that they are truly in need. To all of the people who generously give please dont stop because of this, there truly are alot of people deserving and in need. [ Report Abuse ]

First a note to ATF, she posted bond for $7500.00. She has not gone to court yet so don't be so ready to jump on the justice system. I know the family and they had no clue what she was up too. Her poor grandmother went to her grave thinking her granddaughter had cancer. It's truly disgusting and she'll pay for what she did. I am appalled at the lies this woman has told. How dare she lie about having a dreadful disease that kills thousands of women each year. My mother died of breast cancer 2 years ago. I have no sympathy for Trista and this is what I think should happen. 1. the breasts she had augmented need to come out. 2. she needs jail time. 3. she needs to pay back every dime with interest. 4. she needs to face women who have the disease and see what each woman goes thru. I doubt this would faze this liar though. Any person who will lie about cancer is heartless and corrupt and sure to burn in hell because of lack of concience. I pray for her children and her husband. This story just doesn't add up..How can her family and close friends not know..HOw come NO ONE went to the doctor with her?? As a mother i would want to go with my child to her doctor appt especially if she was diagnosed with cancer....If she has made up stories and lied about so much and her family knew she had done so then they should of gotten proof from the doctor that she did indeed have cancer. And if her mom, sister or husband have nothing to do with it then their names are getting slandered b/c of her mistakes. They need to put her in a mental hospital out of state somewhere and keep her children far away from her...so that they are not manipulated by her also! Trista how could you do this?? I am so disgusted with this person. To PRETEND to have cancer, I just can't beleive it. I have been fighting cancer 6 yrs and can't believe someone would stoop that low. She should have to repay every penny plus and work every day at a cancer hospital with hospice patients, then every night and weekend spend it in the darkest corner of prison. I can't believe a family could be that out of touch with the facts either. My daughter and various family memebers have been to every appointment with me and my friends and coworkers have been there for emotional support. There is just NO excuse and she should answer for this in the most severe way. I am in remission and I feel guilty when I go for checkups and testing because I look around and I see so many who appear to be suffering more than I and I feel like I should not be taking up an appointment time when they are sicker than me. People really need to understand the situation before the start putting down Bill. Bill is an amazing guy, and he is not at fault, and should not be questioned by the police. I realize it's your opinion and right to speak what you believe, but DO NOT slander someone's name on a public board for all to see. If the situation were switched you wouldn't want someone saying all this about you if you had done nothing wrong. It's a TERRIBLE situation, but that doesn't give people the right to say things that they know nothing about. She lied about a horrible disease. But sometimes people just need help. I hope she does feel bad for what she has done to people. She hurt me too. I was there for her in so many ways. After seeing her wear a mask to her job, and telling me her boys helped pull her hair out before she shaved it. I felt like I was losing her. I got hurt from her lies. I knew Trista. When I met her, she became a good friend to me. Yes, she told a few white lies when she first started… and it was a little disturbing. But someone who lies about certain things just for attention, they do need help. They need mental help yes, but they also need Gods help. Apparently, her parents did not show her enough attention growing up or she wouldn’t feel as if she needed to lie about such things to deserve all this attention. I can understand her wanting to save her marriage, but try counseling or pray constantly. God will always help you if you are helping yourself. Lieing about cancer was probably the worst thing to ever lie about. That is definetly not something to play around with. Now she has lost her husband and he wants to take her kids away. Everybody makes mistakes and I know that. But EVERYBODY also has a chance for forgiveness, and God will forgive her. He forgives us all. I feel that the kids need to be taken from both parents for counseling, to make sure thay they are not affected by this. I heard so many bad things about these parents from their classmates. I've read all of these suggestions for her having to work off her crime with cancer victims. I personally think she needs jail time and then community service. When she was in school at B-Eddy she got a sub-teacher fired and he can't teach anymore because she lied an said he molested her. For all the "Good Samaritans" who donated, thinking Trista had cancer; don't stop giving because you have been deceived. You gave out of a "right" heart. She received out of an "evil" heart. You are to be commended. When our church gives to someone out of our benevolence fund, we are always wondering if we have been “duped”. When she went to school with us in B-E, She did some crazy stuff to get attention and ended up giving herself a HORRIBLE REPUTATION...This is sad that she went this low..If your husband isn't happy in your marrige then look and see why.. LYING is probably a key factor of why... I bet her family is utterly embarressed by her actions. She should have to go dorr to door and give the ppl who donated to her their money back in person, so that the shame of what she did will really hit her, and i agree with others comments they should make her do community service at a cancer treatment center to see how these cancer patients suffer everyday and to realize there is nothing funny about what she did and it is VERY VERY Selfish and she should be punished to the full extent.. Her family did not know & it's sad to see ppl try & blame the ones hurt the most by this. This is a sad, twisted situation & I pray justice is served. My grandmother beat breast AND ovarian cancer. When someone you love says they have cancer, you don't question them. How would you? This is a flat out cry for help. I agree with all the community service & payback ideas. I work with women everyday that are affected by the diagnosis of Breast Cancer. Many of them have no insurance and have absolutely no support system or resources to pay. I am disgusted and just down right mad that Trista not only had total disregard for the compassion of everyone whom her lies and deceit affected and that gave unselfishly to her fictitious cause, I am outraged at her insensitivity to every woman or man for that matter that has ever been affected by Breast Cancer in anyway. It is the 2nd leading cause of death in women, by no means nothing to be making a mockery of. I can only hope that the justice system does not just slap her hand, but slaps her in the face with the reality of what she has done and punishes her appropriately. [ Report Abuse ]

My mother being a breast cancer survivor I am outraged that this woman would lie about something so serious and play on peoples goodwill. On the other hand what does it say about our society that we have people so desperate to live up to our idea of an acceptable body image by getting breast augmentation. Only a truly desperate low life could have stooped to this level but as a whole we need to be less superficial and accept people as they are. How could this happen? I donated cash & bunches of woodwork items which took me many hours and $$ to make. I felt sorry for her being so young. I can't believe this. A relative of her's raised money at my place of employment. I gave $20. Another person (and friend) in the department has battled breast cancer, so it came pretty close to home. I cannot believe the nerve of some people. I have had an augmentation, too, about a year ago, but I paid for it myself! Let me start by saying, Chris in Temple, I totally agree with you. I heard this story briefly on the radio and I didn't catch all the details. Now that I've learned fully what this person has done my immediate thoughts are that I hope that this doesn't keep these kind people and others from taking a stand and doing what they feel is right for a person who is indeed sick, and needs support. May God bless the soul of this woman. It's not even about what she could have done to gain attention or money, it's about the fact that she would make a mockery of real human beings, her fellow mankind out in the world battling this disease. They're people who cringe when the homeless beg them for change outside of their local grocery store who will let alone donate money to an actual cause because it's some kind of government conspiracy theory. And it's people like this woman who continues to drag those people down.

to Peggy (west): i have known Bill for a long time and you couldn't be further from the truth. are you really going to blame the stupid choice(s) she made on him? and then to say "save the jails for illegals or minorities." you too are an idiot for making that remark. uneducated people like you are the reason the world is in this place it's in. in my opinion, after reading the facts...this girl is a self centered, unstable, pathalogical liar and seems to be getting what she deserves. she is an adult and i hope she will be made to take full responsibility for her actions. i recently had a very dear friend die from breast/brain cancer and she was a wonderful, honest, loving person. if she had lived just a bit longer and got wind of this she would have ripped this girl a new one being sick and all!!!!! that would have been pay back enough for alot of us!!!!

Being a cancer survivor, I must say this woman has changed the outlook of folks that will be asked to give in the future. I can only hope that the Hog Creek Icehouse will again stand behind a person in need and to all that donated to the cause. Cancer is a terrible monster that can really break a family financially and emotionally. I wa ssupported as well with expenses and I am greatly indebted to all that gave and supported me and my family through my fight.

Trista, I guess your sitting back thinking how stupid all of us must look to you, we fell for you show, it was sad and heartbreaking at first we prayed for you and your family, now its just another pathetic story...I hope you have to pay every cent back to all that you stole from, I hope you never know what it means to have a good friend or people who truly love you you don't deserve it...I watched my father die and two of my friends die of cancer and I died too watching people I love in horrible pain begging to live to see their kids and grandkids grow up, but the pain was to much.. You have no idea what cancer means until it hits you and people you love...you disgust me...
