ROBINSON (November 6, 2009)—Robinson schools were locked down from 12:45 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday while police and sheriff’s deputies searched for a burglary suspect.

The search has since been called off and schools are no longer on lockdown, authorities said.

Police said a woman in her 60s heard a burglar attempting to break into her home Friday morning in the 800 block of Dogwood Street, and fired two shots at the floor to scare him off.

She succeeded.

Police are looking for a white male in his teens to early 20s with a slim build, who was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and white tennis shoes.

Police said the incident is not related to the ongoing manhunt for a suspect in the Lacy-Lakeview area or to the series of rapes of elderly women in rural Central Texas.

i think if someone brakes in to your house then you have the right to shoot them. and i think she did the right thing look at all that is going on around this area. maybe all the elders should have a gun in the house and that way if some guy brakes in she can shoot them. better to shoot then ask questions than to let them do something to her and not shoot. stay out of peoples houses and you wont get shoot...

I wish "low lifes" that try to burgalarize homes and do harm to others were smart enough to find a real job. Hats off to the brave woman who scared the suspected intruder off.

It is a shame that we live in the USA and if we were to shoot anyone who was trying to hurt our family or oneself and we did take a life. We would be the ones going to jail and be tried for murder. Even if they were inside our homes. I really am wondering how do we protect ourselves in this case. This is a true story that is why I am questioning this. I would not want to take a life but I have to admit that it would be him or her instead of my family. We just have to be smarter than that person. Remember we can keep an honest person out, but one that is not they will find a way. A few tips: Lock doors and windows. Use key panic button. Promise someone that you will call them at a certain time so that someone will know if you are okay. Safety in numbers. Never take the same route to work or home. Thank you
