Rain Causes Flooding In Some Areas Of Central Texas

Urban and small stream flood advisories were in effect Saturday morning for parts of Central Texas including Anderson, Leon, Freestone, Limestone, Falls, Bell, Robertson and Milam Counties.

Storms produced rainfall rates of as much as an inch per hour, which the National Weather Service said would result in continued flooding of low-lying and poor drainage areas through mid-morning.

Small creeks may also flood and water may accumulate on highways and overpasses, the Weather Service said.

Country roads and farmlands are also subject to flooding.

The Weather Service warned motorists not to attempt to negotiate flooded low water crossings and to avoid area where floodwater has accumulated.

Rain is expected to fall off and on throughout the day Saturday.
