PHARR (November 10, 2009)--Eleven students including six juveniles have been arrested after a gang-related riot at an alternative high school in Pharr.
The students were arrested after Thursday's melee at Buell Central High School which security officers and Pharr police tried to break up.
A Pharr municipal judge charged those 17 or older with riot participation during an arraignment Friday.
A Hidalgo County Jail official, Ruben Hinojosa, told The Associated Press late Monday that Jesus Rosas Rodriguez Jr., 17; Adam Mendoza Martinez, 17; Edward Sepulveda, 17; Julio Cesar Garcia, 17, and Joe Watts Silguero, 17, were charged with riot participation.
Some faced additional charges.
Hinojosa said that Garcia had been released on a $15,000 bond while the others remained in custody.
He had no attorney information for the suspects.
