YOAKUM (November 10, 2009)-Texas Rangers were meeting with police Tuesday in Yoakum in Lavaca County to review a rape case there to determine if it could be related to a series of attacks on elderly women in rural areas in Central and South Texas.
The latest attack occurred on Monday at a residence in Yoakum.
The victim was 67.
The first of the attacks occurred in January in Yoakum, where a 66-year-old woman was raped and robbed of about $12,000.
DNA has linked that attack and one in February in Lavaca County to several rapes of elderly women in Central Texas counties.
Since January, nine attacks have been reported.
Four of the attacks have happened in Leon County, the most recent of which was on Oct. 24.
In that case, the woman was able to grab and gun, run outside, and fire several shots, scaring the intruder off.
An elderly Falls County woman was attacked on Oct. 10.
In Bell County, attacks were reported on Aug. 14 in Zabcikville and on Sept. 11 in the Seaton area.

This is really starting to get scary. Apparently his MO is elderly women. I would recommend anyone who has a mother or grandmother or a female in their life from 50 and up to make sure you check on them regularly and make sure their windows and doors are locked. If they are willing, it wouldn't hurt to even get a large dog, something that will alert her by barking should someone or something come in her yard. We have three large dogs and I always know when something or someone is outside. It's a small price to pay and could possibly save their life.
