Pastors Group Wants 14th Murder Charge Against Accused Fort Hood Gunman
An organization that represents local pastor councils through Texas wants a 14th murder charge filed against accused Fort Hood gunman Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan in the death of the unborn infant of Pvt. Francheska Velez, who was killed in the Nov. 5 rampage.

Who was baby's father? Rumors have it that the father was a married commissioned officer stationed in Iraq. Is that the reason the 14th murder charge has not come forward, viz., a cover up to protect an Army Officer? DNA testing should show who the father is.

It does matter to charge the man with 14 murders not because of his punishment but because each person deserves respect and recognition of their life no matter how short lived it was. If we said "roughly over a dozen people" were killed and never named them everyone would be outraged and rightly so. I think it is important to know now if the child was a girl or boy and what the family would name him or her to further memorialize this child along with the other victims.

u know 14 or 13 murder charges doesnt matter he is going to get the same thing, he was wrong and he is a coward and all 13 plus Valaz unborn baby RIP and justice will be served so why fight over what he should get charged with and i am glad he didnt died he doesnt deserve the easy way out! he needs to rot in hell and pay for what he has done!

really , who cares, he will die for the 13 and if the pastors really believe and have faith god will take care of this man at judgement, this pastors group sound like they just want some attention, following the tenents to jesse jackson and al sharpton of trying to get attention, funding, and political gain out of a tragedy

Anonymous, you can call me nuts, but I think you were a 'blob' some time ago. That being the case, that'blob' is most certainly a developing human life, or 'unborn child' if you will. If everything would have been allowed to happen as it should that baby would have been born and lived a life as you and I. How can you come to rationalize it any other way? That does make this about the victim. In this case, it is a yet to be born fully developing human being that had its life ended prematurely by another human being. Call it what it is.....MURDER!

To VVV: Your words: Texas Unborn Victims of Violence Act adopted by the state legislature and signed into law in 2003,. The operative word is TEXAS. The charges against Hasan are FEDERAL. Perhaps you should learn the difference. Just sayin'.

Alright Anonymous...I guess you're either trying to "stir the pot" or you're a complete idiot. I happen to be carrying two "blobs" as you put it right now...funny thing is, everyone around me calls me "pregnant." Look up the word pregnant...it does not say a woman carrying a blob. Did you know that the baby's heartbeat begins at 5 weeks!? Why on earth would a "blob" have a beating heart? Why would there be arms and legs and fingers and eyes and ears on a BLOB! Go educate yourself. For crying out loud...why is someone considered "pregnant" when they want to be and it is called a "blob" when they don't or when it is more convenient not to be? That was a human LIFE. Period. Life is an awesome gift, and sure it's going to take time to develop fully, but that doesn't mean that her baby is going to turn into a turkey...of course it's a baby. Although, after reading your statement, maybe some kids do turn into turkeys, anonymous. Just saying...

First this will not make a difference and there will be attempted murder charges filed later on, but this is not like Lacy Patterson whos fetus was much further developed and could have survived if born or taken, this was a "blob" and could not have survived if taken from the womb. Lets start thinking about the victims that lost lives not something that was not alive

I agree. Her baby was a person to and had the mother not been killed, she and the baby would have been healthy and happy. I hope they decide to make it 14 counts.

He still should be charged with the death of this unborn baby(Texas unborn Victims Violence Act 2003) ! And also add 30 premeditated attempted murder charges, plus a Terriorism charges and a 'Hate' Crime charge. As the President did sign a Federal Bill a few weeks ago on 'Hate Crimes!!

Watcher, this is a legal argument. Scott Peterson was charged with two murders when he killed his pregnant wife. Several months ago in Waco a pregnant woman was killed in a car wreck and the guilty driver was charged with two counts. So now we have to decide whether that is really a person in the womb or not. If it is legal for the doctor to kill it right up to the day before it is born, then it is legal for anyone to kill it. If it is illegal for Maj. Hassan or Scott Peterson or this driver in Waco to kill an unborn person, then it is illegal for a doctor to kill it. You can't have it both ways, either it is a person in the womb or it is not. And if you decide it is not a person in the womb, then none of us are persons, because that is where we all came from.

An unborn child has to be viable for life in order for it to be considered murder. At 12 weeks this "baby" would not even be recognizable as a child if it were born. I have seen fetuses miscarried at 15 weeks and they dont even resemble babies at that point. The man has 13 murder charges against him. One more wont make a difference. Adding this lawsuit will only prolong the justice for these victims familes by tying up the courts. Let it go and try him for what we know he can get hung for.

I cannot believe they have not charged him with this death! This was a living being inside Francheska. I definately agree he she be charged with this babies death! My heart and prayers go out to all the families who have lost a loved one. I hope he suffers!!!
