AUSTIN (November 19, 2009)--A man who spent two months in a coma at a hospital in Austin awoke to discover he was a crime victim.
Austin police Thursday announced Thursday they are seeking a woman recorded by an ATM bank surveillance camera using the man’s debit card.
Police say the victim was in a coma at Seton Medical Center, beginning in May.
His debit card was used at least eight times, in late June, to steal more than $1,300.
Police say one debit card withdrawal happened in San Antonio, while the rest were made in Austin.
The name of the victim, who did not discover the theft until he was discharged, was not released.
Austin police did not immediately offer more details on him or how his card was stolen.
Police said Seton Medical Center is cooperating in the investigation.

Have to watch your belongings when at Seton. My purse went missing while I was in the hospital there. I called security from my room, and after they were in my room for a few minutes a nurse mysteriously walked in saying she found my purse in the hallyway. I was unable to walk after surgery, so asked her how it got there. . she left immediately. Luckily I just had $40 taken since I left all credit cards at home.
Has our Society become so ignorant/stupid that this guys family did not have enough sense to check on such as this???????
not to mention, he's probably now 2 months behind on his car payment.
