Annonymous your the idiot!!! It's poeple like you who have pulled this country down the drain!!!! You have that, ITs someone else's fault, not mine!!! Lets blame someone else for the young man who made the choice to IGNORE THE WARNING SIGN and CLIMB OVER A FENCE which are made as warning devices to stop all people from climbing on the clifts. If you cant get the hint of what these things are there for then you probably get what you deserve and this goes in all facets of life..Your right the city did not care and should not have to care.. They put the signs and fence up to warn you of the danger..But YOU CANT FIX STUPID can you...The city is not your nor my babysitterto keep us from harming ourselves Nor is the goverment, you have to take responsibilty for your own actions and not blame everyone else...That is why the CITY WON THE CASE..TO ALL YOU LEFT WING LIBERALS "A GOVERNMENT THAT CAN GIVE YOU WHAT YOU WANT CAN TAKE EVERYTHING YOU NEED AWAY!

This happens all the time. So not new news. I haven't been there in a long time, but perhaps they should post a listing of people who cannot follow rules where they climb over the wall to get to the cliff to watch the races. Hey! Maybe we can even post it in many different languages! That will surely help. But in all fairness, this poor woman wanted someone other than her son and perhaps herself (for raising a son who couldn't or wouldn't follow important instruction) for this horrible accident.

LN; You are an idiot. You know nothing about what happened. Because of the rain, the races were not going on.Even if they were, why would the park open access to watch the races along these dangerous areas if their # 1 goal was safety for it's citizens? Why not use common sense and close access to the areas that allowed people to view the races for free? That would be considered protective appropriate action from a responsible city park. Also, would guarantee no free viewing without paying. The races have gone on how many years? The city was irresponsible and negligent, and I am glad they were finally called on it. The city did not care. Inviting people to sit on cliffs with open access was welcoming danger. At age 18-20, risk taking is pretty common. What did you do at this age that was risky and immature? What an insensitive, ignorant person you are.

I am sorry for this ladies' loss of her son but it is nothing more than natural selection and thinning of the herd of the weak and the stupid. If you are dumb enough to sit on the edge of a cliff you should expect to fall. Instinct tells your brain to not do it but wanting something or showing off over-rides your intelligence. Obviously his intelligence was compromised by wanting to see the races for free instead of paying for a ticket and watch them from the other bank. His lack of forethought cost him his life. Brutal yes, but life can be tough and ones decisions can and do have consequences. I have lived here for a long time and seen many races there. I have seen people fall, interupting the races while they were rescued and have seen more than my share of drivers killed in the races. I find it interesting that the drivers families don't sue the city but these idiots that fall off of a cliff do have their families sue. Stupid is as stupid does.

If you run a stop sign you have the potential to have a wreck and die....It is not the states fault or the cities fault it is your fault for running the stop sign....If you ignore the signs and fence at cameron park and fall and die.... it is your own fault.... no one else is to blame.....

It, doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that a cliff has the pontential to be dangerous. "Mom" stated that Brad was a smart young man. Interesting, considering he so close to the edge of a cliff that part of it may crumble away beneath him. I have hiked and biked many rugged and dangerous cliffs and trails in this country; been doing so since about 1995. I would never put myself so close to danger, regarardless if a sign or wall told me not too. I am truly sorry for your loss, but the blame can't be adjusted on the grounds that one person's ignorance was caused by someone else.

I am very sorry for the loss of the son, but apparently he was at severe fault for choosing to do something so dangerous no matter how many previous times he had done it. I'm not calling the mom money hungry, but she could have gone about this a different way. If she wanted to let people know how dangerous it was then she could have made a statement in the paper or gotten a group together to inform people of the dangers of going to the edge of a cliff that is made of chalk. She put herself in a position to be labeled money hungry by taking the matter to court to attempt to get some money from the city. Again, I am very very sorry for the loss of the son.

I don't see why we need a wall or a sign to tell people they might fall off of a cliff or that said CHALK cliff might crumble. I certainly do not see what we need to spend more than half a million dollars to prevent people behaving stupidly from hurting or killing themselves. In the USA, we say we love freedom, but yet we insist that our government protect us from ourselves. Those are at cross-purposes.

The retaining wall at Cameron park was a joke. It blocked the view and in some areas was 6 inches high. The last sign that Brad saw was totally covered in graffiti. Brad did'nt cross the wall. He walked a well worn path on the right, as the wall ended at Circle Point. He had sat at the same spot many before but we had a lot of rain that day, and so when he sat on it, it broke off like chalk, sending him and the large 2 ton stone down 60 feet. The stone landed on top of Brad; severing his legs and cutting him in half. Another man died 4 days later. I spoke to the city manager and asked if he could make this park safer, and he said no. It was never about money. It was about saving lives. 30 people have died in that park since the 80's. 3 since Brad. 95% of them college students. The City did not protect it's own citizens. Unless any of you have lost a child, you do not understand. Brad was a smart, talented athlete scouted by the Astros. He was a good honest man. My heart is broken.

I'm sorry for the young man's death. But as you people have plainly stated, hHe did not read/obey the warning signs that were posted. Best I recall, the signs/fence(later a better/nicer fence) were installed years ago when another person lost their life in a fall while watching the Drag Boat Races. So it's greedy people that have Our Legal Systems all tied up in frivilous Law Suits. Just obey any signs that have been places anywhere(!) Otherwise it may cost some innocent people their lives!

!!!Warning!!! if you cross this line you might die....the $$ wasted on this is the real crime. I'm sorry that someone lost theor life but I've been to Cameron Park many a time and you can see the reason why the fence and signs are posted. I just wish idiots would keep away so that the rest of us could enjoy an unabstructed view...

I don't believe Mom is money hungry at all. She is a wonderful Christian woman and she is only trying to prevent others from the same thing. Everyone makes mistakes, EVERYONE. But at some point in time there has been an event "you" have wanted to see and wanted tried to get a better look. It was an accident people. NO ONE is stupid. Have some respect for the family and what they have lost.
