(April 17, 2007)--Fifteen deaths are now attributed to a spring storm battering the Northeast.

In the New York City area, the National Weather Service predicts showers through Wednesday night, mixed with snow at times.

New York has been hard-hit by the storm, with over eight inches of rain in Manhattan's Central Park.

In neighboring New Jersey, authorities are calling it the worst storm to hit the state in 15 years.

Five homes burned in one town after fire crews couldn't reach the buildings because of floodwaters.

Some 17 inches of snow fell in Vermont.

Among those killed were a Maine woman and her granddaughter, who were swept away by a river, and a man whose car stalled in deep water in an underpass in New Jersey.
