Four Victims Of Fort Hood Rampage Still Hospitalized
Four victims of the Nov. 5 Fort Hood shooting rampage remained in hospitals Friday, but all were in either stable or fair condition, the post said Friday.

FORT HOOD (November 20, 2009)—Four of the 29 people soldiers civilians injured in the deadly Nov. 5 shooting at Fort Hood’s Soldier Readiness Center remained in hospitals Friday, the post said.

Three are in stable condition and the fourth is in fair condition, Fort Hood said.

That’s good news, because in the days immediately after the shooting, doctors said there was a possibility that some of the most seriously injured victims wouldn’t survive.

The accused gunman, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, was also still hospitalized Friday.

He’s charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and faces a hearing Saturday in his hospital room on the issue of pretrial confinement.

Twelve soldiers and a civilian died in the shooting.

Fort Hood officials expressed gratitude Friday for the support the post has received in the wake of the shooting.

"All the support received is proof that the Army family isn't just made of Soldiers,” Fort Hood said.

There are 245 behavioral health professionals on post in the wake of the shooting including psychiatrists, counselors and chaplains, Fort Hood said, and all of the 748 people who were in the area of the shooting have attended critical incident stress debriefings.

Military chaplains and counselors are available to soldiers, family members and civilians at the post’s Resiliency Campus and mental health professionals are available at the post’s Urgent Care and Triage Clinic.
