CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (November 22, 2009)—Shuttle Atlantis astronaut Randolph Bresnik announced the birth of his daughter Abigail on Sunday morning, after being notified privately of the good news.
His wife, Rebecca, gave birth to the couple’s second child late Saturday back in Houston.
The Bresniks have a 3-year-old son, whom they adopted from Ukraine.
Bresnik says both mother and baby are doing very well.
Bresnik, a 42-year-old Marine, installed antennas and other equipment outside the International Space Station on Saturday.
This is his first spaceflight.
He and the rest of the shuttle crew were awakened Sunday by the song, "Butterfly Kisses."
Mrs. Bresnik chose it for her husband.
Among the lyrics: "There's two things I know for sure/She was sent here from heaven and she's daddy's little girl."
