(May 10, 2007)--Buzzards are putting Texas State University's plans to build the nation's largest "body farm" of human cadavers on hold.
The university had planned to begin burying bodies at a 17-acre site near the San Marcos Municipal Airport later this year.
But Texas State scrapped those plans this week amid concerns that buzzards might interfere with the planes.
Texas State officials say they're now looking for a new location.
The body farm will be just the third in the country.
By burying cadavers and studying human decomposition, researchers say they can help police better analyze crime scenes.
Currently, the nation's only two body farms are in Tennessee and North Carolina.
